5.i Products – Categories

To view the product categories, you need to navigate to the ‘Products’ section of the Admin Dashboard and click on Categories on the drop-down menu.
After you have clicked on categories button you will be able to see the product categories screen. This gives you an overview of the products that you have, and it is here that you can manage the categories and subcategories in once place. You can also click and drag the move button to reorder (see in photo above down the left-hand side).
On this page, you can also edit which of the products are live for your customers to view on your site. To change this simply click on the active tick box. (A ticked active box is live, and an unticked active box is a draft). You can also edit the details of each product by clicking on the ‘edit’ button under the actions section of the product category. (See picture above, find ‘Seating’ move across to the right and locate ‘edit’).

Once you have clicked on edit, a category details box will appear. In this box, you can edit everything including the category name and the image that is displayed on your site to the navigation image and labelling options.
5.i.i Add New Top-Level Category

In the top right-hand corner of the categories page there is a blue button ‘Add new top-level category’, simply click on this button to do so. It will bring up the ‘Category Details’ box pictured above with the relevel fields for you to fill in. The fields marked with a blue question mark have information boxes when hovered over for you to read, this will help you make the best decision about what to insert into these fields. Once you have finished, simply click on the blue 'Save' button.
5.i.ii Add Subcategory

You can add subcategories to your original product category list, by clicking on the green ‘Add Subcategory’ button. Following this, it will be a very similar process to step 5.i.i where it requests you to fill out relevant fields in relation to the information that will be displayed.
As you can see your main categories in this list are Seating, Tables, Bedroom and so on. Seating then has its own subcategories which are Sofa’s, Chaise Longues, Chairs, etc. You can also have another subcategory within a subcategory of the main list. This can be seen in the image above where Kitchen Stools falls under Stools, which falls under Seating. This is a very useful tool and makes the shopping experience for a customer easier.
To put this into perspective, the product categories that you create here will be displayed on your website in the same format. (See picture below)
